I had the pleasure to be invited to a conference on "Is Hypnosis Effective? Patients' Perspective" at the Royal Society of Medicine. A lot of debate has been going on about hypnosis, what is hypnosis, how the public perceives it, and about its effectiveness. The conference was followed by a thorough discussion around hypnosis and each side (supporters and skeptics) laid out their points of view.
As a key take home message, hypnosis might be beneficial for some people (those who believe that it might work), but more scientific research needs to be done to establish its effectiveness.
